While taking clarithromycin and rifampicin, you may experience temporary malaise, chills or a slight rise in temperature, as both medicines can cause flu-like symptoms, weakness, gastrointestinal symptoms or a rise in temperature as side effects. Rifampicin is particularly known for causing fever-like symptoms or general malaise in some cases.

However, for treatment to be effective, it is not only important to select the appropriate antibiotic, but also to prepare and support the body. In the treatment of Lyme disease and co-infections, particular importance may be attached to stabilising the patient’s general condition, supporting the liver and digestive system, ensuring adequate nutrient supply, and taking into account the body’s capacity to cope. Without proper preparation, the tolerability and efficacy of treatment may be less favourable.

If a fever persists, or if high fever, a rash, abdominal discomfort, jaundice or a significant deterioration in condition occurs, a medical check-up is recommended. However, mild, temporary symptoms may occur during antibiotic treatment, so individual assessment of symptoms is always important.
